Whether you have attended church your entire life or never have at all, we know it’s not easy visiting for the first time. You’re not quite sure what to expect and you probably have a lot of questions. At Riverwood, we want you to have the best experience possible. Sit back, relax and enjoy our gift to you.
What type of church is Riverwood Church?
We are an non-denominational church with people from all backgrounds (no church affiliation, Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, etc.). Whether you’ve been attending church for years or this is your first time, you’ll feel welcome at Riverwood. Go here to view and/or listen to a message.
When are services?
10:00 am service lasts 65-70 minutes. Arrive about 15 minutes early if you have children. This will give you plenty of time to check them in at the Next Generation Ministries before the service begins.
Communion takes place on the 2nd Sunday of each month immediately following service in the auditorium. At Riverwood, we practice “open” communion. Anyone that has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior may participate. You do not need to be a member at Riverwood.
Visit the info table after service for information on growth groups, Next Generation Ministries Kidz program and other areas you might have questions about.
Or you can pick up your free book if you are a first time visitor or stop by here if you received a Bible certificate in the mail.
We invite you to stop by our Cafe and have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. We offer a variety of drinks that are great in any season.
What should I wear?
Whatever you want! We welcome jeans, t-shirts, ties, tuxedos…you get the idea. Come as you are.
How do I get there?
Riverwood Church is conveniently located in Burlington at 6919 McHenry St. Go here for google directions.
What happens when I arrive?
When you arrive at Riverwood Church, you see our friendly greeters who can help you find your way to our cafe, children’s ministries and our gathering place. Once inside, you’ll find clearly marked signs directing the way. Additional greeters will be available to answer any questions or hand you a program when you get to the auditorium. Then feel free to enjoy a cup of coffee while you watch our upcoming events on the screen. While you wait for the gathering to start, you can complete as much information as you feel comfortable sharing on the Connection Card in your program (which you can turn in at the end of the gathering).
What is the service like?
First of all, you won’t be pointed out or made to feel uncomfortable in any way. You will have a meaningful, stress-free experience…and you’ll have a lot of fun.
Each service is about 65 minutes. The first 15 minutes of the service you’ll get to enjoy some modern worship music led by our Arts Creation Team. We’ll have the words to each song up on the screen, so you can sing as much as you feel comfortable!
Then after a short welcome, we’ll jump right in to the day’s teaching. Each message/sermon is 30-35minutes long and takes eternal Biblical principles and applies them to your life in some very real and practical ways. And we’ll give you message notes with all of the Bible verses we will be reading and a pen so you can take notes. Then you can review what you learned later in the week.
What about my kids?
Next Generation Ministries will be the BEST hour of your kid’s week! All children from birth to 8th grade are invited to join us in a fun, safe, clean, interactive environment where our team of trained volunteers creates an environment your child will want to come back to every week!
When you register your child, you will receive a receipt sticker that you will use to pick up your child after the service. On that receipt, you will also notice a three-digit code, which will appear on the screens in the main auditorium should your child need you during the service.
What is available for kids and Junior High students?
We have an awesome kids ministry that offers your child(ren) age-appropriate activities for ages birth to 8th grade. Visit our Next Generation kids & MSM for middle schoolers for more info. Your kids will love it.
